The Whitney Awards

The finalists for the Whitney awards have been announced. The Whitneys "are an awards program for LDS fiction, and are sponsored by the LDStorymakers." Nominations were taken last year, and it appears my Bullies in the Headlights made the list. Kind of exciting! The only downside is that I'm up against two Brandons. It's bad enough to go up against one Brandon, let alone two! And as everybody knows, you never want to go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line.

Wait, wrong quote. Although Sanderson might be a Sicilian...I better keep an eye on him during the awards banquet, just to see what he is slipping into people's drinks.

Congratulations! If laughter is a determining factor, your only competition is Janette Rallison.

I'm so excited!! I voted for you, by the way -- I tried to get my whole family to vote, but you know, access to a computer is a necessity. grin.
Anyway, I'll be there rooting for you. Maybe we could slip something into Brandon's drink? grin.

Yeah, funny is good. There was an editorial in the paper today that followed presidential elections back through Reagan and it said the funniest person always won--granted sometimes neither were very funny, but if you can tell a good joke apparently you're a shoe in for the presidency, so why not the Whitney? By the way the writer didn't think anyone who is running for president is funny in the least.
